DownTown Music Hall will host a Bounce House event 10 p.m. Aug. 12 at 212 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach. DJ Chubby, $$$FreeMoney$$$, and Scoot Along will be part of a night of house vibes and grooves that’s sure to keep your feet moving and your heart pumping! You must be 18 to dance and 21 to drink. There's no cover charge.

A Smash Bros. Tournament is 6-9 p.m. Aug. 12 at The Sound Cafe + Enlightened Studios, 142 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach. Come out and battle friends and strangers in an epic event. The entry fee is $10 and winner takes all.

Jenny B's Garden is hosting a Multi-Vendor Plant Sale 9 a.m. Aug. 13 at 120 Patton Drive NE in Fort Walton Beach. Multiple sellers and growers will have indoor and outdoor plants for sale that are suitable for local environments.

The Crestview Public Library hosts a Coffee & Craft class 9-11 a.m. Saturdays at 1445 Commerce Drive, Crestview. The class is free. All materials provided. Social distancing will be practiced. Donations are welcome. The next class is Aug. 13.

TBS Comics hosts a Monthly Board Game Night second Saturdays 6-11 p.m. at the store, 550 Mary Esther Cut-Off, Fort Walton Beach, with the next on on Aug. 13. It's a great opportunity to try new games and meet other board game enthusiasts.

Pool Party Karaoke with "Hysteria" continues 6-10 p.m. the evenings of Aug. 13, 20 and 27 at The Island Resort, 1500 Miracle Strip Parkway SE Fort Walton Beach. Karaoke in the Cabana (moves to Fish House if weather is too cold). It's described as "Fun for all ages! Sing, request a song, dance- it's a party!" Playground Amateur Radio Club Sunday Pile-Up

Dustin Stewart and Playground Amateur Radio Club host a Sunday Pile-Up every week for amateur radio enthusiasts. The free event provides free training, a chance to get on the air, learn technical skills and more. The next one is 3-5 p.m. Aug. 14  at 17 1st St SE, Fort Walton Beach.

The Emerald Coast Science Center's next sciPad featuring SMALLab is 1-3 p.m. Aug. 17 at  31 Memorial Pkwy SW, Fort Walton Beach. The event is an embodied learning environment where every learner is up, moving, and collaborating. Work together to solve puzzles, compete in trivia games, learn about the world, play memory and matching games, and so much more. Think of it like playing in an interactive, room-sized iPad., for ages 2 to 102.

Toast Wine Bar & Restaurant will have an August wine tasting featuring four incredible wines. Hours are 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at 4550 E. Highway 20 Suite D, Niceville. Tickets are $10 per person and reservations are recommended. To make a reservation, call 850-279-6665.

The Sound Cafe + Enlightenment Studio hosts Open Comedy Night once a week, with the next one scheduled 9 p.m. to midnight Aug. 18 at 142 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach. Have some laughs or show some skills for the audience.

Destin, Okaloosa libraries closing for staff training

The Destin Library will be closed all day Friday, Aug. 19 for its annual staff training. Library staff will be unavailable to assist patrons via phone or email. All six Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative libraries are involved in the training and will be closed all day. Patrons can still renew their items or place items on hold via the website at readokaloosa.org. Normal operating hours for each library will resume on Saturday, Aug. 20. Ruthie's Notions in Baker will host a Christmas is August sewing class. The Make It and Take It Poinsettia Class for Luminaire sewing machine users features Barbara Jones. It is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20 at the shop at 1365 John Riley Barnhill Road. Doors open at 9 a.m. Cost is $148 per person, with the kit and lunch included. GriefShare grief recovery seminar and support group

The GriefShare recovery seminar and support group begins 1 p.m. Sept. 1 at Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive. It will continue to meet at 1 p.m. each Thursday afterward. Child care is available upon request. 

GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Is This Normal?”; “The Challenges of Grief”; “Grief and Your Relationships”; “Why?”; and “Guilt and Anger.”

Grand Boulevard Farmers Market takes place every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grand Park in the heart of Grand Boulevard in South Walton. Bring your shopping bag and load up on local produce, eggs, jams and pies. Homemade soap, good olive oil, and pickled things are all there for the taking.

Come browse the 30A Farmers Market in Rosemary Beach on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The local farmers market takes place on Sundays year round, and Thursdays throughout the summer months, in North Barrett Square along Scenic 30A.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) announced that that the concert performance of Taylor Dayne, scheduled for Thursday, May 26, has been rescheduled to a later date because of inclement weather. Due to the impending inclement weather and for safety and logistical reasons (set-up/concert preparations). The concert is postponed until Thursday, Oct. 13. Tickets will automatically transfer to this new date.

The City of Destin’s Adopt-A-Street Program allows local families, businesses and community groups to perform a valuable community service by adopting sections of a street to keep clear of litter and debris. Groups who participate in this program will have their name listed on the cty’s website and signage installed on their adopted street.
